Defending Democracy

We cannot forget what happened in our capitol on January 6, 2021. On that day the United States Capitol was stormed by a mob incited by our former president under the false pretense of an unfair election.  What transpired was criminal, un-American, and cannot be considered legitimate protest. American institutions and ideals remain tarnished by this terrible event.

Our nation – and especially those who would lead it – must focus on healing our divisions instead of deepening them. As your congressman I will be committed to this healing process. That is the only way we will remain a country of civil discourse, with the right to peaceably assemble, and to ensure the peaceful transition of power.

That being said, we must continue to safeguard free and fair elections. Foreign governments cannot be allowed to interfere with our elections, and we must provide resources for election security.

Alaska needs a congressman who will always vote to safeguard America’s democracy both from forces within and forces from outside.
