Our Military and Veterans

Military defense is vital to U.S. national security and to Alaska’s economy. Alaska is the new frontier for America’s military preparedness as Russia and China rush to militarize the Arctic. The economic implications are more direct: In addition to defending our state and nation, the military is a $5 billion industry in Alaska. We must build on and diversify the economic impact of the military presence in our state not just by expanding this presence through additional federal investment, but by also looking for ways to spin off industries and private-sector jobs.

Alaska also has a large number of veterans who have retired here, and it is essential that we care for their mental health and health care needs. As your congressman, I will be working for Alaska. That starts with protecting America’s security and supporting America’s military and veterans.
