Notes from the Campaign Trail: April 18

Dear Fellow Alaskans —

We launched our campaign on April 3 and continue to have an amazing response. We are hearing over and over again that our two-party system is broken. People in Alaska are tired of divisive party politics and want a new congressman who will listen to them and will work to find solutions for Alaska.

Last week I traveled to Juneau, Petersburg, Wrangell, Ketchikan, and then back to Juneau. I tried to get to Sitka too, but it was way too windy to land the jet and after 3 harrowing runway attempts, I found myself back in Juneau. Fortunately this gave me time to attend the UAA Mariculture Conference in Juneau. There is so much potential for growth in this industry! It was also great to be in Juneau for the Alaska Folk Festival again and I saw lots of old friends and met a lot of new ones there too.

I am back in Anchorage now and the next two weeks will be spent getting our new yard signs distributed across the state. We are planning a trip down to Seward, Homer, Kenai, Soldotna and Nikiski next weekend to deliver signs. Thank you to everyone who has signed up to get a new yard sign. If you are interested in one, please click here and it will take you to the sign-up sheet.

I was born and raised in Juneau and Monica, and I raised our kids there too. I have lived in Alaska my entire life except for when I went to school. And anyone that says anything different then that is lying to you. Alaska is my home and always has been. And I am a true Independent. I’ve worked hard both as a doctor and a commercial fisherman. When you are out there on the water in a storm trying to keep your net off the rocks, you don’t care if someone is a Democrat or a Republican. You work hard together as a team to get the job done. As your congressman, I will always prioritize the needs of our state and our nation, and I will work with Republicans and Democrats to get things done. When people with differing opinions listen and work together, problems get solved.

My stance on issues is laid out clearly on my website https://dralgrossak.com. If you have specific questions about how I stand on an issue, please email me at hello@dralgrossak.com. I am very willing to listen respectfully to your opinion and to learn from you. I am stepping up to do this because I have great love and understanding of this visionary state and its people. I will be a strong voice fighting for our state and will get things done for Alaskans. I want to listen to you, and I want to work for you.

I am running both in the special election and in the regular election. It’s a lot of elections in a short period of time and I am in this to win them all, so please vote. The special primary election is June 11. This vote will be by mail, with ballots going out on April 27. That is really soon!! So please vote! There will be many candidates on this ballot, but you can only vote for one. It is critical that your envelope has the signature of a witness before you mail it. Otherwise, your ballot will be thrown away. The top four vote getters go on to the special general election on August 16. Voters will then rank their candidates and the winner will get sworn in to finish Don Young’s term. If I am elected in the special election, I will already have a full term of seniority in the House when I then win the regular election. Winning both elections is thus very important for Alaska.

Voting is the most important way to help this campaign! I believe I am the best candidate to take Alaska into the future and I humbly ask for this opportunity to serve you.

If you want more information about the election, please go to the Alaska Division of Elections website. I have full confidence that this election will be run with integrity and honesty:
