Press Release: Dr. Al Gross now leads Sen. Dan Sullivan in tossup Alaska Senate contest

ANCHORAGE, AK — With less than three weeks until Election Day, a new poll shows independent Dr. Al Gross now leads GOP incumbent Dan Sullivan. The poll, conducted by Harstad Strategic Research, a respected pollster group with ample experience in Alaska, a notoriously hard state to poll, shows that Dr. Gross now has a one-point lead against Sen. Sullivan—showing a massive shift in momentum in the race that may flip the U.S. Senate.

The new polling shows the stark contrast that’s developed between the two campaigns in recent weeks. While Al Gross has doubled down on his commitment to lowering healthcare costs and revitalizing the Alaskan economy, Dan Sullivan’s campaign saw his fundraising figures plummet as he rushed to support an illegitimate Supreme Court nomination which would rip health care away from Alaskans and failed to return tainted donations from Pebble Mine executives.

“Every week, Dan Sullivan seems to stray further and further from his responsibilities as a Senator for the great state of Alaska,” said Julia Savel, Communications Director for Dr. Gross’s campaign. “Instead of fighting for a new wave of COVID relief funding for working families and small businesses, yes man Dan is following Mitch McConnell’s lead with a Supreme Court nominee that will strip Alaskans of their healthcare and quash a woman’s right to choose—all just weeks ahead of the general election. When it comes to electing a Senator who actually gives a damn about Alaska, it’s easy to see why more Alaskans support Dr. Gross—and why this race is a true tossup.”

The new poll comes shortly after Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball shifted their rating for the Alaska Senate race from “Likely Republican” to “Leans Republican,” signaling the contest between Dr. Gross and Sullivan is closer than ever before. With just 18 days until Election Day, it’s clear that Alaskans know why.
