Press Release: Dr. Al Gross Releases Statement on the Trump Administration Meddling in the CDC’s COVID-19 Guidelines

ANCHORAGE, AK—Earlier today, independent U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Al Gross released the following statement after reports that senior Trump Administration officials pressured the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to change testing guidelines for COVID-19:

I don’t know how they do it, but every single day, it seems the Trump administration manages to reach a new low. But still, today’s news that the CDC was pressured “from the top down” to alter their coronavirus testing guidance has left me both shocked and outraged.

Nearly 180,000 Americans have died as a result of the complete and utter mismanagement of this pandemic by Donald Trump and his administration—proving that they should be the last people providing directives to the experts at the CDC.

It appears this new guidance will result in fewer people getting tested for COVID-19, presenting yet another challenge to our already-disastrous pandemic response. As a doctor, I’m horrified. As an Alaskan, I’m scared for the health and wellbeing of our state. And as a candidate for U.S. Senate, I assure you that if elected, I will not stand for it.
