Press Release: Dr. Al Gross Calls out President Trump Over Blatant and Unconstitutional Attempts to Defund Social Security

ANCHORAGE, AK — Earlier today, independent U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Al Gross released the following statement following Donald Trump’s unconstitutional executive order to defund Social Security:

Donald Trump has launched an attack on our country’s retirees. The president’s recent executive order to defund Social Security threatens the lives and livelihoods of thousands of Alaskans who rely on Social Security to make ends meet.

As the COVID-19 pandemic rages on without a coherent response from his administration, Trump’s attack on Social Security could not come at a worse time. Beyond the cruelty of cutting retirees off from the benefits they already earned, Donald Trump’s attack is a clear and obvious example of executive overreach from a president who simply doesn’t understand how to do his job. Thousands of older Alaskans worked for decades to earn a comfortable and financially secure retirement, and with one stroke of the pen at his country club, Donald Trump wants to wipe that all out. Meanwhile, not a peep has come from Senator Dan Sullivan—whoagain showed his desire to put the interest of his party bosses above the Alaskans who actually elected him. Yes-Man Dan needs to understand that his actionsand inactionshave consequences, and once again, he’s left Alaska out to dry.
