Press Release: Dr. Al Gross Calls on Sullivan to Say No to Pebble Mine and Return the Pebble Executive’s Money

ANCHORAGE, AK— Today, independent U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Al Gross released the following statement calling on Dan Sullivan to finally come out against the dangerous Alaskan Pebble Mine deal:

Just a few weeks ago, Donald Trump have his blessing for the Pebble Mine, ignoring the health and well-being of Alaskans and our land. As I’ve said before, the mine as proposed threatens the largest sockeye salmon fishery in the world, as well as posing a tremendous threat to Alaskan Natives, who have been fishing Bristol Bay since their beginning, not to mention the thousands of fishing jobs that play such a big role in our economy.

Yet, Yes-Man Dan still refuses to stand up to Donald Trump, even if it’s at the cost of his own constituents and his own state.

Earlier today, we found out that Donald Trump Jr. broke with administration on this matter, tweeting “The headwaters of Bristol Bay and the surrounding fishery are too unique and fragile to take any chances with.”

Well, Dan, if Trump’s own son can stand up for the people of Alaska even when the president won’t, as a sitting Senator for the state, this should be a no-brainer.

So today, I’m calling on Dan Sullivan to come out against the Pebble Mine immediately and pledge to return any campaign funds from the projects’ executives.

It’s high time for Dan Sullivan to wake up, embrace independent thinking in doing what’s right for Alaska-not just blindly follow whatever it is that special interests or Washington insiders tell us.
