Press Release: “The facts are the facts, whether this administration accepts them or not.”

Independent U.S. Senate Candidate Dr. Al Gross releases statement on White House attempts to discredit Dr. Anthony Fauci

ANCHORAGE, AK — Earlier today, independent U.S. Senate Candidate Dr. Al Gross released the following statement regarding the White House’s ongoing campaign to discredit the nation’s top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci:

Donald Trump’s brazen attempts to discredit Dr. Anthony Fauci, as well as expert medical opinions as a whole, are a continuation of his administration’s longstanding campaign against science as a guiding principle for public policy. Repeatedly, Americans have watched on in horror while experts are ignored, contradicted, fired or forced to resign in protest over this administration’s vast failures to contain the coronavirus.

As a medical professional, I find it deeply unnerving to watch these assaults on objectivity and scientific integrity play out in real time. As an Alaskan, it’s incredibly frustrating to watch people like Dan Sullivan refuse to stand up to this administration and defend these indispensable principles of science and medicine.

When it comes to an issue of such grave consequence as a once-in-a-century global pandemic, we cannot afford to cast aside scientists and experts just because it’s politically convenient. The facts are the facts whether this administration accepts them or not. Attacking the integrity of the nation’s top infectious disease expert doesn’t change that—it simply makes us all less safe.
